I rebuilt riverbus over the last year or so. Why? ...you might ask. I still have big plans for her and I didn't think the 1st version of riverbus was up to the task. Here's a few of the improvements...![]()
She now has 2 30ft long hulls (instead of 3 20ft hulls) with an increased buoyancy total of 20,000 lbs. This doubled her speed, which is now at about 20mph and increased her fuel efficiency. She can also safely carry a lot more passengers and supplies.![]()
I replaced the rapidly rusting steel frame with aluminum angle iron, which is lighter, stronger, and will take longer to corrode into dust.![]()
She is now 8.5ft wide, which is the legal width to transport on the highway. I no longer need oversize permits. That was a bigger PIA than I expected.![]()
I added a galley with a gas stove and faucet on the stern.![]()
The new bow can slice through some bigger waves.![]()
The wheels on the trailer are now on the outside, where they should be.![]()
I added a little more character to the design.![]()

Another great trip to Lake Powell. It's my 2nd favorite manmade place on earth.
